Nestled in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, the old schoolhouse embodies the town's educational legacy. Built in the 19th century, it was more than just a place of learning—it was the heart of the community. Through generations, dedicated teachers nurtured young minds within its walls. Today, though quiet, it remains a cherished landmark, preserving memories of laughter, learning and racing. As a symbol of enduring education and speed, it stands as a testament to the timeless bonds that unite us.
The “Schoolhouse Straight” is a flat, straight mile long section of CTY A, the southern section of the 1951-52 circuit. It is named for the former Joliet elementary school used for public education until 1958, now converted to the Schoolhouse Straight Inn. The school is located on the south side of CTY A approximately one third of the way down the straight. It was the fastest part of the 1951-52 circuit where the more powerful cars could reach speeds in excess of 100mph. Fast for the times!
